GREEN NEWS: APPLECARE PDS300
Applecare PDS300 (INCI name: Polyhydroxystearic acid (and) Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (and) Isostearic Acid (and) Lecithin (and) Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate) is an innovative dispersing system for physical filters, pigments, and hairsprays.
A natural product able to replicate the sensorial effects and performance of silicon-based formulations, Applecare PDS300 allows for the replacement of petroleum-sourced synthetic coatings and increases performance, reducing environmental impact and formulation costs. Its distinct physical characteristics and ease of use make it ideal for the development of light, pleasing textures with high coverage. Versatility is one of the strengths of Applecare PDS300 which is compatible with the use of organic and inorganic pigments and with natural, hydrocarbon, and ester oils and in some cases even with silicone oils. The product can be advantageously applied to foundations, powders, lipsticks, lip glosses, concealer, pencils, eye shadows and mascara, as well as in SPF formulations with inorganic physical UV filters, air cushion-type formulations, and compact powders (as a binder). The product is natural, approved by Ecocert, Cosmos, USDA Organic, the Natural Product Association and Natrue.
G-GEL, A BENTONITE CLAY DISPERSING SYSTEM
G-GEL is another green novelty offered by DKSH. It’s a bentonite clay dispersing system compatible with every class of oil and in line with marketing trends. It guarantees extreme stability and fluidity to formulations, at the same time giving them an oil-free, rich texture. It confers all these benefits without sacrificing sensory effects.
The G-GEL dispersing systems can be applied to all sectors of cosmetics, but they have a fundamental role in color cosmetics and in particular, in foundations, concealers, blush, mascara, eye shadows, and lipsticks.
Thanks to the launch of the latest offerings G-Gel ECO-HMS and G-Gel Silkane, DKSH can combine excellent stability and sensoriality with the most in vogue marketing trends of the moment like Green & Natural Beauty and Clean Beauty.
G-Gel ECO-HMS has a very high naturalness index to satisfy the growing request for natural formulations while G-Gel Silkane allows for elevated stability and comparable sensorial elements without the use of silicones or silicone elastomers.
OLEOFLEX, INNOVATIVE STRUCTURANTS
The last green innovation from DKSH is Oleoflex, innovative structurants able to give a flexible and viscoelastic texture to natural, ester, and hydrocarbon oils with low molecular weight.
Cosmetic formulators have always relied on waxes and butters to add viscosity and structure to formulations rich in natural oils. In this formulative context, there is a delicate equilibrium that must be met between structuring agents. An excessive amount of wax negatively impacts on the sensorial aspects of the formulation while some of its shortfalls are stability problems and sensitivity to temperature. The challenge was to develop products that guarantee increased usage of natural oils while at the same time preserving the structure, viscosity, and texture of the formulation.
The result is Oleoflex, two patented products made up of a mix of natural oils and an advanced synthetic polymer blend, combined with an eco-friendly process free of chemical reactions.
In combination with waxes, they offer unique and “bouncy” sensory effects. They can be used to create delicate and sought-after textures.
