Eurovetrocap powers up its green manufacturing and enriches its portfolio with a new line for PET bottles

Eurovetrocap stands out for its attention to sustainability and innovative, avant-garde solutions and has chosen to boost its production line by introducing a new line for the manufacturing of PET bottles. With respect to the previous version, the new line will enable the production of up to 6 million pieces/year, with a 15% increase in productivity. Thanks to technology that is continually more advanced, the new line results in the ability to obtain a moulding cycle with decreased energy consumption and a reduced environmental impact without compromising on aesthetic quality of the packaging.

The new line has been installed within Eurovetrocap’s manufacturing area located in Trezzano sul Naviglio, where over 40% of the energy used is produced by the site itself through renewable sources. Thanks to this solution which minimizes transport needs, you get packaging that has a considerably lower environmental impact with respect to previous offerings, with a reduction of over 50% in CO2 emissions. 

PET, A VERSATILE AND RECYCLABLE MATERIAL

PET is a material that Eurovetrocap really believes in. 100% recyclable and in accordance with set hygiene regulations for cosmetic products, PET doesn’t lose its fundamental characteristics during the process of recovery and recycling and this allows it to be used repeatedly for the creation of high-quality packaging for food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical use.

The version of PET that is even more sustainable is R-PET from post-consumer recycling. With the same physical-mechanical characteristics and the ability to be processed in the same way as virgin plastic, post-consumer plastic follows circular economy principles: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. It’s with this version that Eurovetrocap has a variety of innovations in store.

The availability of a high-quality, recycled raw material guarantees that sustainable packaging can be made that is still in line with the cosmetic market’s expectations – explains Giampaolo Herrmann, Eurovetrocap CEO-. Our choice from the very beginning was to use it to introduce a complete standard line of PCR PET with formats ranging from 100 to 250mL, to satisfy the needs of even the smallest companies. It’s a goal that has been met – and surpassed – thanks to the new production line: a line of recycled PET bottles that today, includes 5 formats of the Sirio Alto line, from 100 to 250mL”.

To answer demands for sustainability and growing requests for safety, Eurovetrocap is in the process of patenting a set comprised of PET bottles and an innovative cap for cosmetic use with a tamper-proof seal: “The range of recycled bottles has been paired with a series of recycled PP accessories including a flip top cap made of 100% post-consumer recycled PP – continues Herrmann- . Specifically, the flip top cap 24/410, patent-pending, sets itself apart thanks to the presence of a tamper-evident seal and a system that prevents it from unscrewing and coming loose. The system was devised as such to guarantee a hermetic seal. In fact, when first used it’s necessary to break the seal located in the upper part of the flip-top closure which, after opened, stays inside the cap, preventing it from being dispersed into the environment”. A convenient and effective system to guarantee formula integrity and packaging sustainability.

Recently, while always harnessing Industry 4.0, Eurovetrocap has installed an end-of-line automated packing system for the bottles: a further investment made to minimize scratches and hence, increase the quality of the finished product.
