Grafiche I.M.P.’s latest and greatest is “Shades of Green”, a palette that is 100% biodegradable that the customer can decide just how sustainable to make: totally organic or a more in-between, gradual version with different finishes but that is always eco-friendly. And then there are the PR Boxes, made out of printable cardboard, which are the new frontiers of creative communication: they are used by the big brands to pay homage to leading online influencers in exchange for positive reviews on social media profiles followed by millions and are highly requested by make-up and skincare brands.
The secret is the continual research that Grafiche I.M.P. has been conducting since its beginnings when, in 1998, Giuseppe Moretti alongside his partner and brother-in-law Ettore Pelizzoli, studied the market and came to the understanding that it was necessary to construct a business in the graphics and paper goods sector that would be able to produce and supply large formats. “The reason is very simple – explains Moretti who today, together with his daughter Federica and sister-in-law Ermanna Inzoli, continues the family business-. There was no competition and today, our company is the only one of its kind within 40km”.
COSMETICS IN ITS DNA
In just a few years, Grafiche I.M.P. has experienced notable growth thanks to remarkable managerial skills and the continual technological innovations linked to materials and machinery with highly-qualified personnel offering excellent value for money. Getting into the world of beauty was a natural step, followed by participation in the industry trade shows like Cosmopack Bologna, MakeUp In Paris and Polo Innovation Day.
Along this path, the pragmaticism that sets Grafiche I.M.P. apart is what hit the mark: “The sector was growing immensely and had specific needs – affirms Moretti-. As such, in the early 2000s, we specialized in paper boxes, developing the concept over time, not only to stay up-to-date, but also to stay ahead of the trends”. Because innovation is also fundamental to secondary packaging. “We’ve never felt like we’ve arrived at an endpoint – affirms Federica Moretti, Sales supervisor & accounting manager – rather, we are always aimed at what’s new and upcoming. We’re continually searching for high-performing materials, not necessarily limited to papers but also ones that can be used in combination with the former: our “Shades of Green” palette is an example. It’s made with eco-friendly paper, vegetable ink and organic glue; it can be taken apart – the mirror and pans are glued on and can be taken off the palette separately; it’s versatile because it allows for different palette types to be created without investing too much of a budget in molds”.
A “GOLDSMITH” …BUT FOR PAPER
The new palette is also an example of research for new solutions both in terms of colors and effects: “We select our decoration suppliers so that we always have the possibility of offering our customers the latest innovations, for example, with regards to the use of new varnishes or new printing methods- continues Federica-. The constant updates also involve the machines in order to always stay informed in real-time on the latest printing innovations”.
One of Grafiche I.M.P.’s staple strengths is most certainly its ability to look beyond and to approach every type of project with immense respect: “We firmly believe that we can always do more – says Federica Moretti with passion-. This is the reason why we never say no, not even to “minor” projects involving small or emerging companies: for us, every project is important and every bit of work allows us to learn a lesson. If I had to make a metaphor for this, our behavior would be like that of a goldsmith: the quantity that is asked for isn’t what’s important, it’s about the quality. It could also be just a single object, but we’ll put all of our experience and attention into it”.
WHERE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE ARE MASTERED
Experience is truly Grafiche I.M.P.’s added value, able to provide consulting services from start to finish and to make the difference with respect to competitors: “The technical skills of our commercial sector is surely a characteristic that sets us apart– continues Federica-. For starters, we know what we’re trying to sell and offer to the customer, we support them throughout all phases, from the technical design to finishes compatible with plastics and different materials utilized. We know how to advise and intervene even with last-minute changes that today, happen almost on a daily basis. I’ll add that this knowledge is fundamental because it also allows us to limit errors and costs: planning well beforehand, leaving nothing to chance, allows us to feel at ease. If you think about the fact that our machines produce 16 thousand pieces an hour, one mistake can’t be easily forgiven”.
In one word: problem solving, a service that is very much requested by customers together with the one recently offered which regards logistics. Grafiche I.M.P. is equipped with a materials deposit and a warehouse for the transport and storage of merchandise, in addition to areas dedicated to logistics (packaging, assembly, labelling etc.…). “Paired with this is also support with the new requirements for the labelling of packaging that were introduced last September and that companies have been having a lot of difficult with,” highlights Giuseppe Moretti.
PR BOX, TRENDSETTING PACKAGING
On the product front, one of the innovations that Grafiche I.M.P. is embracing is that of the PR Box, that is, the evolution of secondary packaging. Made out of printable paper and cardboard and linked to the rise of influencers, they are now formats that are in high demand from big brands. “These are boxes that house products or entire product lines that the high-end brands intend to promote – explains Federica Moretti -. Elegant and glamourous, they are created with very innovative solutions with the aim of impressing and getting noticed”.
With Grafiche I.M.P., boxes become an elegant frame to enhance makeup and skincare, making them trendsetting items. A passepartout article that is able to increase exports, one that Grafiche I.M.P. is focusing on for the future and Covid-permitting, will see the company participating in the main international trade shows.
THE FUTURE IS SUSTAINABLE
And if for the future, the company is looking ahead beyond borders, it won’t lose sight of its path towards sustainability which has already been undertaken some time ago and to which new elements are being added. For Grafiche I.M.P., sustainability is not only about eco-sustainable and biodegradable materials or the use of eco-friendly green substances, but it’s also about social responsibility. “We’ve recently obtained the FSC “Forest Stewardship Council” certification – concludes Federica-. The final goal is that of promoting environmentally -responsible management of forests and plantations throughout the world which are socially advantageous and that respect the rights of workers and the local populations and at the same time, are economically sustainable. Grafiche I.M.P. is part of the chain of custody of these values, in other words, it guarantees the materials traceability process, ensuring any paper products purchased originate from FSC-certified suppliers”.
