A visit to the Italian Cosmetic Valley is an incredible opportunity to witness up-close how cosmetics are born. The occasion presented itself when nine companies of the Italian Cosmetic Valley opened the doors of their factories to us, taking us on an amazing trip to discover how, and where, the most loved beauty products are made.

The tour opened the doors to the world of the cosmetic supply chain upstream of brands, that is the universe of third party companies that represent a significant driving force both for the economy of Lombardy and for the country.

Some of those companies belong to the Polo della Cosmesi. Polo della Cosmesi was founded in 2004 in Crema, one of the main industrial areas for the third-party production of cosmetics, with the goals of stimulating collaboration between companies in the supply chain and fostering their development.

POLO DELLA COSMESI IN THE HEART OF COSMETIC VALLEY

Today, Polo della Cosmesi is a dynamic and well-structured association that operates on a national and international scale. It brings together more than 80 companies operating in the cosmetic and make-up market: from bulk/product to the filling process, from primary to secondary packaging, from decorations to labels, from assembling to automated machines manufacturing, from product design to R&D.

These are companies that have a collective revenue of over 680 million euros and are a true display of quality, innovation and know-how in the cosmetic and make-up sector.

POLO DELLA COSMESI

The Polo della Cosmesi offers consultancy, training and promotion services both in Italy and abroad. It promotes the development of synergies and interrelationships among different businesses and boosts communication and dialogue among businesses, institutions, research centers and the working world.

Polo della Cosmesi promotes and enhances “Made in Italy” and our industrial district, the Italian Cosmetic Valley. The Italian Cosmetic Valley is an area comprised of the provinces of Cremona, Lodi, Bergamo and Milan, where more than 60% of the world’s cosmetics are produced.

Another strength of the Association is the fact that it takes a strong sense of roots in this area and combines it with an international outlook, an essential combination to satisfy the call to export by our companies.

THE POLO DELLA COSMESI NEW MEMBERS

In 2019 there was a boom of new members, companies of all shapes and sizes- small, medium, and large. The companies understood and appreciated the spirit of the Association: to create synergy and develop networking amongst the supply chain companies and to encourage internationalization.

For 2020, Polo has a series of support and consulting events in the pipeline that involve the management of some financial and economical aspects of interest, especially in cases of working with countries outside of the EU, certifications, exhibition organization, training workshops, and statistical analyses. As a whole, information that is of great interest for any company that wants to grow.

As an Association, the goal is that of becoming a reference point for third-party companies that demonstrate quality, innovation, and know-how in the cosmetic and make-up sector.

THE KEY- FACTORS OF ITALIAN BEAUTY

The culture of beauty, creativity, innovation, and very strict regulations are some of the elements that explain why the beauty industry has reached a level of excellence in Italy. Besides this, these companies know how to manage the complexities and requests of a market that is continually more intricate and international. In other words: they’ve invested in specific equipment, in technology, and avant-garde research solutions.

Today, they can offer these assets of knowledge and know-how to clients the world over. Let’s not forget that this district falls into a very precise geographical area: it is found in Lombardy, the economic and financial heart of Italy, among the provinces of Bergamo, Milan, Brescia which are industrial areas that are historically very established.
