Waste. So much wood and cork wastage. Creativity. Love for the planet. These are the ingredients of the new Mixy, Sensy, and Sweet Home collections that Livingcap Società Benefit will present at PCD Paris. Three lines dedicated to different beauty products but that all have a common denominator: they give a second life to wastes from wood and cork processing.
UPCYCLING APPLIED TO THE WORLD OF PACKAGING
Livingcap Società Benefit is part of Labrenta srl, a Vicenza-based company that produces packaging for beverages utilizing cork and FSC-certified wood. Every week, their internal turnery generates tons of waste that Livingcap thought about giving a second chance to by collecting it and creating new packaging lines for cosmetics and fragrances. A perfect example of upcycling applied to the world of packaging.
“The idea of ‘virtuous recovery’ – explains Marco Rossato, Sales & Marketing Manager – materialized thanks to our R&D office and to the collaboration with Mixcycling Società Benefit. Through a patented process, Mixcycling has been able to reuse our wastes and transform them into a material that can be used for injection modeling. And this is how our sustainable collections Mixy, Sensy and Sweet Home came to be: concrete examples of circular design application, a type of an approach that we adopt for all of our projects.

MIXY, SENSY E SWEET HOME
Livingcap’s latest novelties- Mixy, Sensy and Sweet Home – are the most sustainable you can expect from beauty packaging because they reduce the use of non-renewable resources and CO2 emissions, recover and regenerate waste by reinserting it into the production cycle, and are 100% closed-loop recyclable. All accompanied by a sophisticated and elegant aesthetic, a must-have element for cosmetic packaging.
For eco-friendly make-up and skincare products, there’s Mixy: a small jar made of MixcyclingⓇ Lignum, a blend that contains Livingcap’s FSC wood waste.
“Mixy– explains Rossato – is a sustainable solution because, first of all, it’s a refillable jar that can be used an infinite number of times by the consumer and because the refill is designed using 100% recyclable material and suitable for contact with a variety of formulations. In addition to its sustainability, Mixy is notable for its textured, natural look that effectively communicates the brand’s attention to the environment to the consumer. With its pastel colors, it’s the perfect packaging for green cosmetic and make-up collections“.
Sensy is the collection of three cap models for perfumes. With a play on the recovery-sustainability pairing as well, Sensy is created using the MixcyclingⓇ Cork material that’s given a second life to cork waste. Besides the sustainability aspect, this material offers a unique tactile and sensory experience, perfect for the perfume and fragrance market.
“MixcyclingⓇ Cork has a natural aesthetic and a soft, velvety surface. These characteristics make the user experience particularly comfortable and give a preview of being enveloped by the brand’s fragrance”.
SWEET HOME
For the world of home fragrances, a market that is growing immensely and with products for every price range, from premium prices to deluxe solutions designed to be true design objects, comes Sweet Home: the line of T-shaped caps and accessories for home fragrances.
“Like Sensy, the Sweet Home accessories are made of MixcyclingⓇ Cork. Also this collection is particularly appreciated for its natural look, the soft touch effect and its pleasing user-experience. The T-shaped Sweet Home caps are available in a variety of dimensions, preserve the fragrance and prevent it from losing its smell. With regards to diffuser neck closures, we can develop custom projects utilizing the brand’s design and Mixcycling materials”.
The company is in constant movement and the team is already at work developing new materials and new projects. “In the coming months there will be interesting new developments for the Sweet Home collection: there are up and coming new lines created with Mixcycling materials that give a second life to rice and bamboo waste,” concludes Rossato.
To see Mixy, Sensy and Sweet Home, save the date for PCD Paris from June 29th to 30th. Livingcap will be sharing stand K58 with its parent company Labrenta in the area PLD.
